Do you have Kaal Sarp Yoga ?

Going by the name Kaal Sarp yoga, it is apparent that it has something to do with Sarp…..the snakes and Kaal...which means time. Out of the nine planets, Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury,Jupiter,Venus,Saturn,Rahu and Ketu it is only Rahu and Ketu who have something to do with snakes. They  are also referred to as  two parts of the snake, the upper part or the head (north node) which is known as Rahu and the lower part or the tail (south node) which is known as Ketu. Kaal Sarp yoga is formed when rest of the seven planets are placed between Rahu and Ketu Axis. Even if one of the planets is outside Rahu and Ketu Axis, Kaal Sarp is not formed. Rahu and Ketu are always placed seven houses away, so there are five houses between Rahu and Ketu. In Kaal Sarp yoga the seven planets other than Rahu and Ketu can be placed in any of these five houses. No planet should be placed in the house having Rahu or Ketu otherwise Kaal Sarp yoga is not formed. (Since the topic of Kaal Sarp yoga is highly debated every combination has some or the other condition. As to having a planet with Rahu nullifies Kaal Sarp yoga or not, some astrologers suggest that if the planet sharing the house with Rahu has lower degree than Rahu, then Kaal Sarp yoga is considered to be effective otherwise not)

A complete Kaal Sarp yoga is formed when exactly half of the horoscope chart has no planets and all the planets are hemmed between Rahu and Ketu. Most of the Astrologers are of the opinion that Kaal Sarp yoga will NOT apply if all the planets are placed between Ketu and Rahu. This would mean that for the formation of Kaal Sarp yoga the planets should be placed between Rahu and Ketu
A partial Kaal Sarp yoga happens when the malefic planets Sun, Mars and Saturn are placed on the opposite side of Rahu and Ketu. The partial Kaal Sarp yoga gives less Malefic effects.
A modified form of Kaal Sarp yoga is formed when all the planets in the horoscope are hemmed between Rahu and Ketu except for one planet. In most such cases the planet outside the axis of Rahu and Ketu is Saturn
Kaal Sarp yoga has effect till the age of 47 years. In some cases, depending upon the position of Rahu and Ketu Kaal Sarp yoga may be effective throughout life.
Kaal Sarp yoga is more effective during the Mahadasha (main period) and the Antardasha (sub-period) of Rahu and Ketu.
Even if there is Kaal Sarp yoga in the horoscope it may not be effective
The result of the effects of Kaal Sarp is not the same for all the people. This is because of the difference in the placement, strength and aspects of the benefic and malefic planets. Benefic aspects to Rahu and Ketu make Rahu and Ketu beneficial. Both Rahu and Ketu give tremendous good effects, giving great success and happiness during the period of their Mahadasha (main period) and antar dasha (sub-period)
It is very interesting to note that if Raja yoga is present in the horoscope, the Raja yoga will have more effect and give more positive results inspite of Kaal Sarp yoga
Kaal Sarp yoga is cause of great concern in the following placements:-
1)      If Rahu or Ketu is placed with either of the malefic planets, namely Sun, Mars or Saturn
2)      Presence of Paap Kartau yoga….this happens when Rahu or Ketu are positioned between 2 or more planets
3)      Rahu and  Ketu are placed in 1st /5th /9th place from Sun, Mars, Saturn or the ascendant.
